It’s a time to leave your everyday world behind and step into a new place of wellbeing. A place to unwind and chatter amongst like minded people who are all there for the same fulfilment, to become an artist with the freedom and ability to create a new soulful piece of amazement.
Your creativity opens up and exercises your mind in a way that no one else can envisage until your last paint hits the canvas and your final product is revealed.
The room is full of chatter and the movement of happy thoughts as the class takes heed of what is ahead. “I’ve never painted before”, is heard. “I haven’t done anything like this since I was in high school” says another. “I’ve always wanted to paint, but never known where to start”.
You are surrounded by the smell of coffee, tea and freshly baked biscuits, an easel with a bright new canvas, a few paint brushes and pallet knives of different shapes and sizes. There are large bottles of colours stacked on the shelf with an assortment of other tubs and bits and bobs lining each space available around the room. It is colourful and quite inspiring to say the least. Pieces of colourful art and vases of flowers add to what could possibly be one of Australia’s brightest rooms. With light coloured walls and crisp white shutters filtering the natural sunshine, each colour pops out with ideas filling your head.
As the painting begins, your mind boggles. Splashing acrylic of all colours and blobs of impasto to mix. Your pallet knife goes to work in a whole lot of mysterious movements you never thought possible. Petals of colour and leaves of different shapes dotted all over, your now, not so white canvas. Your mind has a flutter of excitement as you can see before your eyes something you never thought could be. “That isn’t quite what I was thinking,” you hear someone mutter, “ I don’t mind that at all,” another one says.
You stand back and gaze over at others and realise how different everyones are turning out. The room looks like a paradise of colour, a magnitude of talent inside these four walls alone. You are not only surprised that you feel so happy with your painting, you are also astounded by what this day has become………..a welcome new light into your life…………a start of something much bigger.
